No Spend Weekend starts.....

next week! Okay, okay, I said I would do it this week. But I already blew it when I was late for work and stopped for a bagel. Then had coffee with a friend who just lost her favorite aunt. But my husband made an appointment to get maintenance on our Civic Hybrid, And there is no more dog food. We have no more soap for the shower, and we are on our last roll of toilet paper. Geez. My best intentions. I will try and only spend what I need. (i.e. toilet paper, soap, dog food). Perhaps next week will be the No Spend Weekend. I will try and make sure I have everything I need before the weekend. One saving grace? I'm aware of my spending, and that is half the battle.

Sharon,
In our first simplicity circle we did a week without shopping/spending. We planned ahead but still had a panic-y feeling going into it.
It was a good experience. I'd definitely recommend that you do it with a bit of forethought, but do it. You'll gain something from the experience, like that knowing that you can survive!
I've been visiting your listed blog sites. Some of these folks are very inspiring. It's made me realize that things for us aren't so bad and on the other hand the amount that some folks have been able to pay off in one year is absolutely amazing! With our expenses so high right now I feel happy just to keep up!

Wow, a whole week? Hmmm, that would be some experiment. I read the book "Not Buying It" by Judith Levine, and have come to the conclusion that she was able to do that because she did not have kids. Ultimately, I would love to try it, so I guess maybe for one week I will not buy anything...but not until I stock up on toilet paper and soap! :)

I didn't realize you were counting Fridays too :-) That seems even harder!

Soap and TP are necessities! I think by next week you'll be ready and do great!!
