Training...

Hubby's first crack at the semi-monthly bills, and I'm walking him through it. One of my "saving" habits occurs in our checkbook. For instance, if the bill comes to $5.64, I subtract $6.00. If I get a deposit for 47.67, I add $47.00. All of this change adds up to a nice little cushion in the checkbook. Eventually, there is an unexpected expense, and the handy savings in the checkbook takes care of it. I figured out how much was in there on a daily basis, but I'm guessing that my husband will not....and that is a good thing, as I'm hoping there will be a large amount of "cash" cushion Christmas! :)

If you keep doing it that way, I'm sure you will have a AWESOME Christmas!

Hi Sharon! Congratulations on handing over some control. We have gone back and forth for years with who will pay the bills, etc. and we finally found what works for us - and it is wonderful! Makes all the difference in the world! Good for you!

What we do now is my husband pays all the monthly bills and I handle all the financial planning. I write up the budget, figure out how much will go into savings, how much we can snowball, etc. He does the actual nitty gritty of writing out the checks (usually on line). After 15 years we have finally found what works for us! :)
