I have filled up both of our cars in the last couple of days and paid close to $80.00. (The civic's tank was half full too!) Canadian Saver disciplines herself to not drive a certain number of days during the month. And she does a fabulous job! I need to figure out how to do that too. Gas prices are just too expensive. But it's more than that. I don't want to add to the oil company's profit line. How can they have billions of dollars in profit and insist that they must charge us more??
My husband's car is the civic hybrid and he gets at least 45 miles to the gallon. Not bad. But then there is my car, which is a Honda Pilot. It cost me over $50.00 to fill up and it lasts me about 10 days. It used to cost $36.00 to fill up, and not too long ago. At this point we are able to absorb these prices. We will adjust our budget in other categories. But starting now, I will vow to drive less. My goal for March is to have 5 no drive days. Wish me luck!

OK Crazy notion time! If anyone know I would love to hear back on it.
Since we have gone to a cash system for a lot of needs, including gas, we are spending less...make senses, except for gas. We drive te same distances.
I wonder since we are fueling more often and not filling if we are getting better gas mileage!
Good luck with the no driving days!! I can only get them when I don't work, there is no way I can get on a bike and ride to work in all that snow!!!
Racerx,
Not sure about that one...I'll have to track that! I was on fumes when I filled up the Pilot!
CS,
The only time this will work is when I don't have to go to work OR drive children to any event. 5 may be an extreme, believe it or not! But here's hoping!
Hi Sharon - I know, gas is killing is too. My CRV costs about $36 to fill up, and my husband's Mountaineer is over $55. I usually have my no drive days when I work from home, which also tend to be no spend days, too - no spending on coffee or lunch. Good for the environment, the wallet and my waistline!
CT,
Indeed! I want to work from home too, and hopefully if I can get my bookkeeping business up and running, I will have many more no spend, no drive days!
