Done with Credit Cards...for good.

I had several posts recently about obscure charges being put on my credit cards. I called the companies and they removed the charges. I have an Ann Taylor card, mainly because I get coupons in the mail because I have an account. Because I'm on the computer a lot, I set up an account online. By doing so, I missed the very small print that said I would no longer be getting paper statements if I set up an account online. I didn't see that small print, and when I received a letter from a credit agency saying I was delinquent with a bill, I was confused. When a bill is paid in full, the statements stop coming. Apparently, I had underpaid the Ann Taylor bill by $2.12. But I did not receive a paper bill. By the time this credit letter came, I had incurred interest and late charges upwards of $40.00. Geez. Now, this was received about a day after the last three credit cards I paid off wouldn't die...I did call Ann Taylor Credit and straighten it out, and sent the $2.12 immediately. Because of my payment history, they took off the late charges. It is very scary when you don't get a paper bill. It is very easy to forget about it, and not check it online. I had no idea that I was no longer getting one. I will definitely read the fine print more carefully, but in the meantime, I no longer have any credit cards as my son and I had a "cut the card up" party. I only have my debit card left....that will be easy to keep track of.

Ouch - what a pain. I also have paperless statements with Ann Taylor, so I'm going to log in right now and make sure I haven't missed anything.

Wow!! I could not do that. I couldn't go anywhere without my Mastercard, I always picture myself breaking down on the highway and my only means of getting help is by flashing my card!!!

Way to go :-)

I will just make sure I have a fully funded checking account because I can use my debit card as a "visa". AND they won't charge me interest, they'll pay me interest!
