Goals

I was reading an article on the internet referencing "goals". Hilton Johnson wrote an article on "The Top 10 Best Ideas for Setting Goals". I thought these might come in handy when preparing my daily goals, my monthly goals and my yearly goals.

Here they are:

1. Make a List of Your Values (What's important to you, your family, your religion, your leisure time, your hobbies. Adjust your budget to reflect your values)
2. Begin with the End in Mind (Where do you want to end up? Financially secure, living on a lake, surrounded by my family.
3. Project Yourself Into the Future (Whatever thoughts dominate our minds most of the time, is what we become...ooooh, now that's scary. Make sure your thoughts are positive!)
4. Write down the 10 Things you want this year (Just thinking about this will begin to create images in your mind, and move toward achieving them)
5.Create your storyboard (make a collage of your goals using pictures, brochures) ( I love this one, because I would love to live in a small town, working within the community. I would love to create this collage and put it up in a place that I will see it everyday. That would definitely help in creating an image that would keep me on track with my goals)
6. List the 3 most important things you want 1. 1 year from now, 5 years from now, 10 years from now 20 years from now, etc. (I think I'll start with goals for a month, 6 months and 1 year)
7. Ask yourself how and what can you do to make your goals come true. ( I believe self talk can be helpful as long as you don't make it negative. When I first started this blog, I called it "Still in debt after all these years". Very depressing. Just by changing the name, I feel better about what I can achieve in the future)
8. Focus on One Project at a Time (Ah, this is a good one. I can relate this to my financial goals. FOCUS on paying one debt off at a time. Once I can attack one, it will feel so good to CROSS IT OFF my list when I have completed it!
9. Write Out an "Ideal Scenario" (This goes along with my collage up above. I know what I would like my life to look like (not that I don't like it now) but the ultimate would be to be debt-free with extra cash to do worthwhile things, to live in a place I choose, and to see my husband more because he won't have to work such long hours).
10. Pray and Meditate on your goals each evening before you go to sleep. ("Ask and you shall receive". That says it all..:)

Hilton Johnson is a sales executive and these goals helped him in his network marketing business. I can see these ideas being useful not only in my work environment, but in my financial life. I'm already excited to take these ideas and utilize them.

These are all great ideas. It helps to have things down on paper (in a journal, on the computer or whatever too) and it helps when things are measurable!
