So far so good...

Well it is Friday and I have not stopped at Starbucks for 3 days. Okay, okay, so what? I have been to Starbucks every day for the past 2 years! But someone tipped me off on how to make starbucks at home and actually have it taste like the real thing. (I personally always thought that Starbucks drugs the drinks which makes you keep going back!). But actually, I bought a perculator (makes the best coffee) and now use "extra" Starbucks coffee in each brew. I usually only put one spoonful per cup, but you have to make it extra strong for it to taste like Starbucks coffee, so I added an extra 1/2 spoon. It worked wonders! I'm happy. Approximate savings? Hmmmm, approximately $400.00 a year. (I don't buy the exotic drinks, just the everyday brew....and I used my own mug, so it was approximately 1.70 a day)

Anyway, a little progress. Hopefully I can keep it up.

My daughter's 12th birthday is tomorrow and she wanted me to send in a snack. Usually, I would run out to the store, but I actually had cake mix, and frosting to make 32 cupcakes. Normally, I would have bought them for $10.00, because I would be too tired to make them.

So, savings for the first week in January? Coffee: $10.00 (probably more though, because I always get suckered into buying that yummy rasberry scone), Snacks: $10.00, bringing lunch from home AT LEAST $30.00

Savings this week? $50.00

Hi Sharon. Congratulations on deciding to become debt free!

My husband makes Starbucks coffee at home too. To my shock (just learned this week), he makes as cup with THREE scoops of coffee! Wow! But still, much much better than buying it there!

I look forward to tracking your progress (and have added a link to you from my blog)!

Happy New Year!

Thanks Jennifer!
How do you add links to the side bar? I'm still getting my feet wet with blogging!

Are you kidding? I think not stopping at Starbucks is a huge deal.

I used to go to Dunkin Donuts every day until I figured out that by making coffee at home I could save $2 per day, $14 per week, $56 per month and $672 per year. Imagine the days and weeks I was drinking two to three D&Ds per day.

Don't sell yourself short. Baby steps will get you to debt freedom!
