Monday Posting Only....

I've had a hard time turning on the computer, the tv, reading the newspaper, etc. lately. It is taking the living breath out of me to hear all the bad news about the market, politics, economy...etc.
So, I decided to stay away from the above areas (No computer, tv or newspapers). And it was a great break. I hung out with kids and played outside... But, I did miss reading blogs and posting myself. So, in order to preserve my sanity, but still be able to converse with my blogging friends, I've decided to only get on my laptop once a week. Mondays. I will post and read on Monday's only. So, I'm still here, but at a much reduced level...
Update: I've spent all weekend, so I'm still at 3/5 spending and 1/5 driving.....

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Hi Sharon - I've missed you! I spend all day on my computer working, and do more at night (blogging, reading, tweeting) .... probably too much so. Trying to find a balance between computer time, family time, and outside interests. Need to find time for exercise, housework, too. Almost seems like too much going on. Again, the key is balance.

Now I have something to look forward to on Mondays :-)

Hi CT Mom,
How's the job going from home? I bet it's nice not having to fight traffic! Yes, I'm trying to find balance, but more than that I'm getting too sick over all of the political and economic noise that the tv, computer and newspapers are spewing....I'll try to have something good to say on Mondays!

Good for you ---- I think that I would do better too if it wasn't for the addiction to the computer... that was part of my 'overspending' problem. I would be bored & on the computer, then I would shop! It just seems like everything is better when I am not on it! I may take mine down to once a day in the morning... that would help me out temediously!

I look forward to reading your weekly posts!

Sharon,

Yay for you!! Finding balance is SO important! I agree with you about all the "noise" - I don't read the paper (neighbor gives me coupons and ads - that's it) and we have 4 TV's in the house and NONE of them are turned on - at all! The kids don't even watch Animal Planet! (A bit to their chagrin!)

The headlines do pop up when I log on, but I am pretty good at ignoring them. Too much weight to carry throughout the day. It matters, of course, but not every second of every day. We must get a break from it or, as you said, it will suck the living breath from us...

I, also, will look forward to seeing your in-sightly posting on Mondays. I give you a "pat-on-the-back" for knowing your limits.

Blessings to you!
Tif

This is such a smart idea! I would never be able to follow through with it but I like the idea anyway :)

Balance is important. It's easy to get caught up in things that don't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Family is way more important than just about anything on the internet.

Yes, all the news is scary and overwhelming. I should break from it too. Good for you!

I completely understand. I took a break (unintentionally because my internet was down) for a couple of weeks. It was actually really refreshing. I did miss chatting with my friends. But, the absense of technology was freeing in a way. I think I'll do it on my own accord sometimes as insurance for my sanity. I hope all this doom and gloom doesn't lead to what we all dread.

Just found your blog again, I had accidentially deleted 2 blogs from my blog roll when I was moving blogs along alphabetically! I even put a note on my blog incase you were reading!

Less time on the computer is really good for the soul! Hope you doing well with all your budgeting etc!
