Handing over some control..

Today I had an epiphany...I like to be in control ...all the time. But having control also means doing everything. And I'm tired. I don't want to do everything anymore. So today I relinquished bill paying and control of the main checking account to my husband. I will have a separate checking account that I will manage to cover all the misc. expenses, i.e. food, gifts, clothing. Hubby will handle all of the fixed bills. He will also manage the extra cash for home maintenance, home improvements and unexpected expenses.....hence he will shoulder a bit more of the financial 'stress'. He accepted this task graciously. I have no doubt he will do a GREAT job. He is definitely not a spender, so we may actually be able to get a few things done to the house AND have savings. It will take me a while to step back and not feel the need to take over again. The "free" time will also open up some time for me to do the things I have wanted to do....that actually don't have anything to do with money... Hopefully, I will remember what those things are....:)

Sounds like a great set up for you both. I wish you the best in letting go, that can be hard. Enjoy your free time too! :)

My spouse is the control freak in our house, but interestingly enough, with everything BUT money.

And what a perfect time to change things up. Just as the weather gets nicer.

Boy, I give you a lot of credit. My husband and I tried this a few years back, and I drove him crazy (definitely my issues, not his). I manage the finances, and he's said he is happier to let me do it, because he feels I'm better at it. I'll take the compliment ...:-)

Btw, I posted a true "before" picture of our house - really makes me appreciate how much work we've done. Come on over and take a look!

Good idea, but this requires a husband, first, right? Years ago, I thought about getting me one of those, but wiser heads prevailed.

I'm also a control freak but I don't mind taking control of everything... except I hate it when there's a lack of interest or no input from the other half

THAT is what makes me mad
