Took a break...

I did not realize that I hadn't posted in a few days! I also have not kept up with my blogger friends (so sorry!). I guess I needed a break from "finance". All of the doom and gloom in the paper about the economy started to affect me. I needed to focus on other things...such as....

I signed up to take a trip with my church to the Amish Country. Our priest personally knows some Amish people in Lancaster County, PA who invited him (and 30 of his closest friends) to a farmhouse lunch. I can't wait, it sounds like a great experience.

I went to my daughter's honor band concert. Even though they are in 6th grade, they did a superb job!

I joined Weight Watchers both online and for meetings. The midlife bulge has come and I want to get rid of it before it gets worse. (I don't know what is worse, weight issues or money issues!)
I can get pretty cranky if I can't eat what I want, and apparently I've been eating A L O T. So, I've had to give up about 2000 calories a day! :)

April will prove to be a huge challenge financially as I have 5 birthdays to take care of (sister, nephews, daughter, dog..(yes, Ben turns 1)! I will try to stick to cash only...let's hope I won't fail miserably by budgeting my cash...

Well, that's about all I've been doing (aside from work, clean, laundry, grocery shop, well you get the picture!)

Hi Sharon - welcome back, we missed you!

I agree, the gloom and doom in the media about the economy is enough to depress even the most sunny of dispositions ... better to focus on daily life. 5 birthdays, wow! October is our busy month - 3 out of 4 of us have birthdays, plus our anniversary. My youngest's birthday is in November, and she will often say she likes having that month all to herself.

Also, I am impressed that the 6th grade band did a superb job. I attended my older daughter's holiday concert where the 5th and 6th grade band played first, and it took several minutes before I could recognize what the songs were ("oh ... they're playing Frosty! I thought it was "Jingle Bells"). I'm assuming the honors band did much better :0)

Happy Spring!

I've always wanted to join WW. I am just weird and would prefer to attend with a friend. I wish I had enough in me, to go it alone.

CT,
Thank you for your kind words! Yes, the honors band was impressive. But I'm sure the 5th and 6th grade bands in May won't be as good...:) We are actually driving to JMU to see my daughter for her birthday, so it should be fun! Yes, once I'm passed April, I have one birthday a month until August!

Dedicated,
I have not attended a WW meeting yet, I've been doing it online, but I will attend this Sat. (I do have a friend who goes too, so it's a bit easier!)

I really think weigh and finances can go hand in hand. They are both about self-control and finding the right balance of not denying yourself too much, but not splurging too much either. Good luck!

ASGreen,
That is so true! I've been pretty cranky because I'm trying to do too much too soon. If I cut down a bit each day, I think I would be better off. Same with finances. If I give up too much too soon, I will definitely binge...

Glad you're back :-)

Good luck with Weight Watchers! For me, losing weight and watching what I eat is a lot more difficult than the financial stuff.............

Sounds like a busy but fun month ahead :-)
