I love January. A fresh month. A fresh year. Fresh goals. I am looking forward to quieter days...and hopefully less expenses. One of my college daughters is back at school, the other one leaves on Thursday. It was great having them home, but the flurry of friends that came to sleep, eat and stay with us was tiring.
I finished the yearly budget, with some big assumptions. I figured in my husband's yearly bonus (if he gets the same as last year) and I figured in my same salary. (I work odd hours, and my paycheck is never the same week to week). I'm hoping that I can stay within the budget categories and that I didn't forget any.
I did figure in 1% of the worth of my home for home maintenance. That equates to approximately $6000.00. If I don't use it all, I will put it into an account that I can earmark for a new roof, heater/air conditioning, etc. This is something that I have not yet done, but as my house gets older, the chances of needing it are much greater.

Do you do your budget all at once for the year (same each month)? I have fluctuating income and one item off my list that will be dropping after January, so I've only done this month's so far... I do it in Excel though so it's easy to copy in case I have 2 months that are the same...
Doesn't it feel great to have this all done and on paper? Now we just have to stick with it :-)
good luck!
Well I try to think of all the possible items. This is the first year I realized I needed to put some decent money in the home improvement budget....If I can just keep the food budget in line and kids expenses, it may work!
I have to admit that I'm amazed that someone can create a yearly budget! I still struggle creating it month to month!
